Brain computer interaction - Today's success

About two months ago I started playing around with BCI technologies. In my faculty's laboratory (FERI LSPO) I connected the sensors to my melon and started experimenting..

EEG sensors on a stretchable cap

Calibration session
On the pictures above I'm using the BCI2000 tool suite and the g.USBAmp amplifier to record and interpret my EEG (brain) signals.

How it works?

Using the projected character matrix (on the screen) the user can focus on the character he wants to spell and count how many times it blinked. After a few blinks the algorithm recognises which character you are focusing on and displays it on the screen. This can be achieved thanks to the P300 potential that appears in the brain signals "every" time we recognise that the character flashed.

After a few days of painfully trying to clear my mind and focus my thoughts, I have finally succeeded to calibrate the damn thing and spell "THE" using only my brain!! :) Happy, happy me!

So what do we do now?

Same thing we do every night Pinky; TRY TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

While returning to my blog hobby I found that my blog in Slovenian is still active... So after a short Sherlock Holmes moment I managed to remember the password and will try to run two blogs at the same time.. talk about multitasking, HA? :)

Well, the link is here: The Noname Blog

A site in flash...

While I am working on my main project, I usually get away with "relaxing" by taking up a smaller project in some other technology (other coding language). (This is one of the reasons I don't write every-month posts on blogs :) ) This time, it is a Full flash website for a waterbed selling company: Vodne postelje KazZ!
So, me and my friend Saša Kuhar, who took over the design, worked really hard to make this ASAP. The result is here: KazZ Waterbeds
Because -I admit- do not know all the computer languages, I tend to figure something out when the project is almost finished. But because I like to throw something new in every project I am part of, I HAD to do it. :) This time, it was SWFObject.
Because of the animations an different types of menus, I struggled quite a bit to get it working. Now every page in the Flash site has a underlying SE-Friendly HTML page.
Try it yourself:
I have one more thing to show you:
Because I am a fan of fancy things, I convinced the company owner Nejc Zorko Horvat that it would be cool if costumers could build their own waterbed and by one click just mail the order to him. The result is here: Build-it-your-self-waterbed

The first LOG IN

After a easy registration this is my first post at my blog. :P
